Welcome
We are the Walled Lake Church of Christ located at 1403 N. Pontiac Trail in Walled Lake, Michigan. Let us tell you about our congregation and answer some commonly asked questions about us and the good news of Jesus Christ.
We are a congregation of the churches of Christ. Seeking only to be Christians, our fellowship consists of over one point two million members with over 13,000 congregations in the U.S. alone, with sister congregations on every inhabited continent of the world. The estimated world wide membership of churches of Christ is over three million. Each congregation is governed by its own elders, in harmony with the New Testament. We follow the New Testament as our rule of faith and practice. We want to know God’s will and live it in our lives.
Our Activities
In addition to worship services and Bible classes, we are involved in ministry projects both at home and abroad. We support three state side mission efforts in Detroit, Michigan; Escanaba, Michigan; and Marquette, Michigan. We also partner in the work in Central America. We are involved with our local area and host many community groups in our building. These include Scouts, Meals on Wheels, and Alcoholics Anonymous. We also offer a Vacation Bible School each summer and other activities for children and adults throughout the year.
What Can I Expect?
When you visit the Walled Lake Church of Christ, you will find friendly people eager to help you find your way around the building and get acquainted with others. We offer Bible classes for all ages. Each of these classes, for children or adults, focuses on the Bible and how the Word of God applies to our lives every day.
What Do I Do In Worship?
When visiting a worship service for the first time, many people are nervous about making a mistake, perhaps standing at the wrong time, or making an incorrect response. That is a very unlikely accident to happen in our worship, so relax! Our order of worship is printed on the inside cover of the bulletin, and words + music to our hymns are projected on a screen so that you can easily participate. We encourage you to sing with us, blending your voice with ours in praise to God. The communion bread and fruit of the vine are available to those who wish to partake at the given time via pre-packaged kits found in the lobby (gluten-free available). A collection is taken, but you need not feel obligated to contribute. The church is supported by its members and you are our welcome guest. The sermon will be based on Biblical truth designed to help you live for Jesus Christ each day. The worship service lasts about one hour, but may have eternal effects on you! We also offer a Children’s program twice a month during the sermon (see BIG FISH below).
We look forward to having you – God bless you and keep you!
